Presidential proclamation to end certain nationality-based travel bans

On January 20, 2021, the Biden administration issued a Presidential Proclamation to end nationality-based travel bans (e.g., the Muslim & African bans effecting nationals of Burma, Eritrea, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Nigeria, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Venezuela, and Yemen). COVID-related country specific travel restrictions continue to apply. The U.S. Department of State posted an update that while it can immediately process visa applications for affected applicants, routine visa services during the COVID-19 pandemic are still being resumed on a post-by-post basis, with priority to U.S. citizen services.
