Our Attorneys
Ilana has been the firm’s managing partner since 2004. Having focused her practice exclusively on immigration matters for her entire career, Ilana has developed an expertise in helping large and small corporations address their immigration needs. Ilana has held a number of roles within the AILA organizations over the years, including roles within AILA’s California Service Center Liaison Committee, Distance Learning Committee, L-1 Visa Taskforce, and the USCIS Benefits Liaison Committee. Ilana has been an invited speaker to several national and regional conferences. She recently authored “Hiring International Workers in Today’s Economy: New Challenges and Strategies” to Aspatore’s 2010 edition of Employing International Workers. Ilana has received accolades from several directories to legal counsel, including Martindale-Hubbell® and Chambers USA..
Atessa has been a partner at Jackson & Hertogs since April 2013 and an associate/senior associate since July 2000. She was previously an associate at Maggio & Kattar in Washington, D.C. from 1996 to 2000. She has held several volunteer roles within the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) during her career. For AILA’s Northern California Chapter, she has served as Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service (USCIS) liaison. On a national level, Atessa served on AILA’s USCIS Headquarters and Benefits, Administrative Appeals Office (AAO), and Department of Labor (DOL) liaison committee. In addition, Atessa has served on AILA’s Business Immigration Advocacy, Issues, and Due Process & Civil Liberties committees, as well as several conference committees. She has served on both a chapter level and national level as a Customs & Border Protection (CBP) liaison.
Atessa has served as a board member of the Iranian American Bar Association Northern California chapter from 2009 to 2016, and served as President of the chapter 2014-2015.
Daniel has been a partner with the firm since 2013. He has spent several years researching and publishing on corporate immigration matters for a variety of publications. Daniel serves on the Editorial Board of Bender’s Immigration Bulletin, a LexisNexis® periodical providing news and analysis to immigration lawyers nationwide. His articles have appeared in publications, including the LexisNexis® publication Bender’s Immigration Bulletin, Nolo Press, and the Stanford Law and Policy Review. He has received the Martindale-Hubbell® directory’s highest rating (“AV”), and is listed within its Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers, as well as the Chambers USA guide to corporate immigration counsel. A long-standing and active member of AILA, Daniel is regularly invited to speak at both national and state AILA conferences, and he is currently an active member of AILA’s National Customs & Border Protection Liaison Committee. Daniel is an active participant in AILA’s Military Assistance Program, which provides free legal representation to military members and their families. He also mentors attorneys providing pro bono assistance to asylum seekers through the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights.
Chrystal Green, Partner
Chrystal C. Green became a Partner at Jackson & Hertogs LLP in July 2025, having joined the firm as an American attorney and Canadian lawyer in March 2015 after several years of practice on both sides of the U.S/Canada border. As a licensed member of the California State Bar and the Law Society of Ontario, her practice covers the spectrum of investment, corporate/business and family-based immigration to both the United States and Canada. Additionally, Chrystal manages the firm’s global matters, which assists our clients in exploring international and panoramic solutions.
Chrystal is a member of both the Canadian Immigration Bar Association (CILA) and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). As one who has a number of publications including in EB5Investor and Chambers, she served on AILA’s Global Migration Section’s Publications Committee for a number of years, and she has been an invited speaker to a number of AILA conferences.
Chrystal obtained her Master of Laws (LL.M) from Howard University School of Law, her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Ottawa’s French Common Law Section, and her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from McGill University, and is happy to assist clients in both English and in French.
Brian Pham, Senior Associate
Brian has over a decade of experience in employment-based immigration, beginning his career as a paralegal and later becoming an attorney after earning his J.D. from UC Law San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings) in 2021. His practice spans a broad range of nonimmigrant visa matters—including H-1B, L-1, TN, and F-1 classifications—as well as immigrant processes such as PERM labor certifications, I-140 petitions, and adjustment of status applications. Whether advising corporate clients or individuals, he is committed to providing practical, results-oriented guidance.
