FedEx announces service delays
published 8 April 2008

FedEx has announced a national service disruption:

FedEx News
National Service Disruption

FedEx Express National Service Disruption for Tuesday, April 1, 2008

The Memphis hub and flight operations experienced substantial disruptions last night and this morning due to heavy rain and thunderstorms. Consistent with the provisions of the FedEx Service Guide, the Money-Back Guarantee is suspended for U.S. domestic packages and shipments inbound into the U.S. from international locations with a delivery commitment of April 1, 2008.

For specific shipment status information, please track your shipment at fedex.com.

Specifically, FedEx is experiencing substantial disruptions at its Memphis hub and to flight operations due to heavy rain and thunderstorms last night and this morning. FedEx is suspending its "money-back" guarantee for U.S. domestic packages and shipments with a delivery commitment of April 1, 2008.

This announcement comes on the same day that FedEx and other courier services are starting to deliver H-1B cap petitions to the Vermont and California Service Centers on the very first filing day for FY 2009 cap numbers. Given the recent change in USCIS regulations that allow for the USCIS to consider H-1B cap petitions received during the first 5 business days of April (for this year, this means cases received April 1-4 and April 7, 2008), this service suspension will hopefully have little if any impact on the filed cases.

All cases submitted by Jackson & Hertogs are being tracked for delivery and our clients have also been provided with information so that they can track the package deliveries. We will keep clients posted as to developments.
