USCIS filing fee increase expected
published 23 September 2005
On September 25, 2005, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is expected to publish a Notice in the Federal Register announcing an increase in filing fees for most immigration benefits petitions and applications.  The new fees will take effect 30 days after publication of the Notice.  Fee changes include, among others, an increase from the current filing fee of $185 for an I-129 Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker to $190, and an increase for the I-485 Application for Adjustment of Status from $315 to $325.  All fee increases range between $5 and $20 per application or petition.  Fees for the Form I-907 Request for Premium Processing Service will not be increased at this time.  Jackson & Hertogs will work with clients to ensure that appropriate filing fees are provided at the time of filing once the new fees take effect.
