The I non-immigrant visa classification was established in 1952 and is reserved for bona fide
representatives of foreign press, radio, film, or other foreign information media, seeking to
enter the U.S. solely to engage in such a vocation.
I visa holders are admitted under "D/S" (duration of status), which means duration of the
employment relationship of the underlying media function. Spouse and dependent children
may accompany the principal alien. The maximum number of annual visas is 33,000.
