Visa revalidation delays
published 02 June 2003

The Visa Revalidation Unit at the United States Department of State (DOS) has announced that a software problem involving revalidation applications submitted in March 2003 has caused an unexpected delay in processing many of the cases submitted at that time.  The software failed to capture data from key fields on the new DS 156 NIV (Non-Immigrant Visa) application form.

The problem has been corrected, according to DOS, and processing has resumed. However, later filed cases may be processed earlier than the March cases.  Generally, visa revalidations continue to take between 10-12 weeks at DOS.
