Timing for fingerprints on CSC adjustment cases
published 24 April 2003

The California Service Center (CSC) has announced that it has changed how they are scheduling fingerprinting appointments for pending I-485 applications. Fingerprinting appointment notices will now be issued approximately 9 months after the I-485 is filed with the CSC. Until now the CSC has been scheduling the fingerprint appointments within a few weeks of their receipt of the I-485.  The lengthy backlog on I-485 processing at the CSC, combined with the fact that the fingerprints expire after 15 months has resulted in applicants being required to submit additional fingerprints at a later date.

We hope that CSC's change in scheduling  the initial fingerprint appointments will avoid having the prints expire by the time the case is ready for adjudication thus avoiding additional delays as new prints are ordered.
