Embassy of the United States U.S. EMBASSY CLOSES VISA UNIT 27 December 2002 Due to a reduction in staff, the Embassy of the United States announces that effective Monday, January 20, the nonimmigrant and immigrant visa units will be closed to routine visa applications until further notice. Beginning January 20, the non-immigrant visa unit will only accept visa applications from high-level Venezuelan officials and diplomats, third-country diplomats who are accredited to Venezuela, the spouses and minor children of U.S. citizens who wish to depart Venezuela temporarily, and documented emergency humanitarian and medical cases. We will notify the public when visa appointments beginning January 20 can be rescheduled. The Embassy of the United States regrets this measure and hopes for a swift resolution of the crisis affecting Venezuela. > |
